Model United Nations (MUN) is a youth based educational program where youth play a role of diplomats and do a simulation of United Nations work. It aims to educate young participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy and the United Nations agenda”.[1]

The Algeria Model United Nations (AMUN) was organized for the first time in Algeria in 2014, thought training sessions and open days. AMUN has gathered 827 Algerian Youth from different cities to network and discuss world issues. During the event, the participants and students play the role of delegates from different countries and attempt to solve real world issues using the policies and perspectives of their assigned country. They receive training in the United Nations system, international relations and diplomatic practice; they also developed their skills in public speaking, communication, leadership and conflict resolution.[2]

The Algeria Model United Nations Secretariat, a dynamic group of young profiles from Algeria organizes the 3rd session of The Algeria Model United Nations (AMUN) in Algiers from 24 to 27 December 2016, under the theme “youth For Peace and Development”. The participants are selected on the base of different criteria such as the age limit between 16 to 29 years old and the diversity of the field of studies. The youth selected are also those who play an active role in society, so they can exchange and give more to others.

This year’s edition there are six comities, each comity does have very important topics to discuss and exchange with the participants like the situation of Libya, there was also a discussion about the insecurity and how to maintain peace, the islamophobia and the phenomena of brain drain and its effects.
